Gorehounds Unite!

 Meatball Machine......the title alone made this a must watch for me without even knowing the plot so when TLA Releasing and Danger After Dark sent me a copy I was quite excited to watch it. For me the asian market had started to get quite dry and stale and to tell you the truth I started to lose interest in it........Well Im happy to say that this film reinvigorated my love for the asian horror/sci-fi films!

 The plot revolves around a lonely factory worker who's quite the social outcast who likes to watch a beautiful woman doing laundry across from the factory during his lunch breaks. During this time he finds a strange shell like thing (after being beaten up by a drag queen after he watches a porno movie) and he takes it home. From there he ends up meeting the mysterious woman and they hit it off, unfortunatly for him the weird shell thing is actually part of an alien plot where they take control of human hosts turning them into weird mixes of biomechanical weapons and human flesh to fight then to the death.

 Well the next thing you know, the mystery woman has been attacked and is transformed into this horrible and crazy creature! There is a definite love story theme throughout but dont let that stop you from picking up this awesome film as its filled with some of the most outrageous gore, sex, and insanity not ever seen on these shores before!

 This film has alot of influence taken from other classic films like Tetsuo: The Iron Man and a ton of animes (It has a very distinct anime feel to it!) but outdoes them all. If youve ever watched alot of the non-mainstream Asian stuff then you know that the Japanese culture has alot of strange imagery and stories....and this rates as one of the most enjoyable and weird films I have ever seen.

 The Aliens that take over their human hosts actually control us like they would puppets from inside of us. Some scenes actually show these parasitic aliens inside the body controlling the hosts.....these are some of the coolest little creatures Ive ever seen! This brings us to the gore......my god theres more blood in this film than a Peter Jackson film! The gore scenes are very over the top and not stuff that will make you cringe but theres literally a ton of gore and once it starts theres no end to it! Ive been waiting for a film like this for years!

As far as the effects go beyond the gore (ala the suits,weapons etc.) they all run the very cheesy look where its all obviously just latex and some paint (think Guyver) but damned if they dont look like something out of a H.R. Giger nightmare! The acting is also on the very low budget end and not very good....but trust me it doent effect the film at all.

 The story is very original and does alot right as the pacing of it all is perfect.....once the story gets going its non-stop mayhem for the rest of the film.

 As you can tell I really have nothing bad to say about this film.....Its probably the most enjoyable film Ive seen in the last 3 years and I hope to see more come from Danger After Dark and TLA releasing! These guys are putting out what others dont have the balls to even go near.

 If your looking for an outregeous balls to the wall Splatterfest you just found a new favorite film! Id have to say if you enjoy any of the old Peter Jackson films or really are into Anime and Tetsuo: the Iron Man then you cant go wrong with this film. This film really does pull out all the stops!

 This film is a gorehound and Splatterpunks wet dream......It grabs ahold of you from the beginning and doesnt release you till the adrenaline and blood soaked finale is over and leaves you breathless and screaming for more!
